Get Started
Cloud computing is a way of doing stuff in computing that you probably already know how to do, but mixing them in a different way. The mix is what we call cloud computing. To get a more formal definition, you should refer to the first NIST reference above.
Searching for an overview we found the 15 minute video Cloud Computing Beginner to Expert with 3 Projects , re by Gwyneth Peña-Siguensa, same as 1 above. She promises you to become an expert in 6 month by diving into the three projects she outlines in the video, and she is serious and trustworthy.
We do not have 6 months. We do have 5 ECTS equivalent to 5 x 6 lessons plus some homework. Actually, since a year is 60 ECTS, this course is a month of work for you.
Consequently, we will dive into the subject matter by using one of the resources mentioned on the Youtube page of the above video, no 3 above. Learn to Cloud , also by Gwyn. In the beginning of Phase 0, there are 6 videos listed in point 2. Watch the videos, they are not prohibitively long, and we shall discuss them in class.
Exercises
In Learn to Cloud, duly referenced in todays lesson, we have Phases 1 through 5, and then projects.
- In phase 1, there are some headlines, Commands, Networking, and Bash Scripting, for each of those formulate three questions you want answers to. Then we shall discuss, and answer them as the model solution to this exercise. You must hand in your questions.
- In phase 2, Programming and Git, the exercise is similar. I know it is harder, but look at it as a chance to catch up, and get answers to some questions that still lingers. Again, your questions must be handed in.
